Plants Flashcards
What is the formula for photosynthesis?
6 CO2 + 6 H20 + light energy _______6 02 + C6 H12 O6
______ = arrow
What are the five components for photosynthesis and how do they relate to the lead diagram?
Food (sugar) is sent to other parts of the plant (arrow out of leaf stem)
Water enters from the stem of the plant (arrow into leaf stem)
CO2 enters through the stomata (arrow pointing to leaf)
Oxygen come out through the stomata (arrow out of leaf)
Sunlight enters the leaf (rays go to leaf)
What happens with light reactions in chloroplasts for photosynthesis?
For light reactions, during the day, light energy splits H20, produces O2, ATP, and NADPH.
What happens with dark reactions in chloroplasts for photosynthesis?
For dark reactions, day and night, CO2 is made into sugar using the ATP and NADPH.
Why are photosynthetic pigments green?
Photosynthetic pigments are green because out of RoYgBv. Whatever a color is, that is the one color that it is not, so it got absorbed.
