A

the Buddhist teaching;
-nothing in the world is permanent [known as impermanence
- everything is always changing, nothing stays the same
-example=life is like a river, flowing on and on

What is Dukkha?

A

the Buddhist teaching;
-because everything is always changing, nothing in life is perfect
-therefore suffering is everywhere
-always be suffering “dukkha”
example= buddha said “ birth is dukkha , aging is dukkha, sicknesses is dukkha, death is dukkha

What is Anatta?

A

the Buddhist teaching;
- there is no eternal, unchanging soul
- anatta is the principle of “ no self “
- instead the Buddha taught , what does carry on to the next life is a person’s life force[Kamma]
example;
we are just a collection of changing characteristics[ e.g height, weight , modd]

What does this mean for Buddhists today?

A
  • Buddhists believe that it is more important to try and reduce suffering in the world because suffering is a part of believe alive
  • because all things decay and change, Buddhists try not to crave material things because when they decay this causes suffering
    example;
  • buying a new phone, when it eventually breaks this causes suffering

why do Buddhist monks make mandalas?

A

they create mandalas to represent Buddhist teachings and to focus their
minds other than the self. therefore it is classified as a meditative ritual
