what was the first path?
Right understanding/view point. the first path was right understanding view point . this means Buddhists should have the perspective of life that states life is unsatisfactory and the way to gain enlightenment is to have a correct understanding of the world. finally life involves suffering and the way to overcome suffering is by following the noble Eightfold path
what was the second path?
Right attitude. the second path states your mental attitude affects what you get out of life and your thoughts and attitude towards and in life is important . this attitude should cultivate love and kindness. finally we should wholeheartedly commit to following the noble Eightfold path
what was the third path?
Right speech. the third path states your words are powerful and effective . your words should be helpful and the truth , with encouragement. we should avoid meaningless swearing and gossip. words can give great pain
what was the fourth path?
Right action.it is important to show love kindness and compassion to all living things. buddha taught “let a man overcome evil by good”. Buddhists must not steal, take drugs or drink that confuses the mind.
what was the 5th path?
Right livelihood. Buddhists must have a job which follows other Buddhists teachings like do not harm any living things or cause harm to others. examples of good jobs could be at teacher or therapist. a example of a bad job could be a farmer or soldier
what was the 6th path?
Right effort. think in a kind and positive way and make an effort to have these positive thoughts and get rid of negative harmful thoughts. make an effort to be mindful in what you do, say and think. work hard to do good
what was the 7th path?
Right awareness/right mindfulness. you must be totally alert to life and how you act and the consequences of these actions. be fully aware of yourself and the world around you. relate to the Buddhist story about the two children
what was the 8th and final path?
Right concentration. to concentrate we can meditate to let the mind settle and process our feelings and relate to our experiences and choices with serenity. and to keep being fully aware and maintain the core values of Buddhism. calm and positive mind , having understood life is full of suffering this step aims at letting go all of those desires and cravings to stop suffering
