The agreement that Mary was to give up any claim to the English throne but Mary claimed she never approved this and insisted on being named as heir
Why was Mary a threat?
Mary was a threat becuase she was the Catholic alternative to Elizabeth and as long as she was alive in the country then Catholics would want her to be in charge and would actively try and get her on the throne and Mary was not going to tell them to stop as she was a rebellious figure.
