Ridolfi was a spy for the Pope (the Pope had called on Catholics to depose Elizabeth). He worked with Mary, Norfolk and the Spanish.
What happened with the Ridolfi plot?
Ridolfi got Mary and Norfolk’s permission but then the plan was foiled straight after that. It was a threatening idea but very poorly executed.

Overthrow Elizabeth, put Mary on the throne and restore Catholocism in England at the Pope’s wishes through a French invasion of England

What happened with the Thockmorton plot?
Walsingham investigated Thockmorton after becoming suspicious of his meetings with so many foreigners, the plan was immediately squashed. But, it revealed Catholic conspiracists in the gov’t as Thcokmorton was in the gov’t.
