At first we’ll be like skaters testing the thickness of ice
It’s a metaphor ice symbolises the strength if love
They are supposed are like skaters learning to trust each other and the ice
Nervous they’ll get hurt
We’ll skate nearer the centre of the lake
Symbolises that they are getting closer to each other the skaters are getting closer to the centre of the lake. So they are more comfortable with each other

They already have each other they don’t need to impress each other
Scramble to save ourselves and not each other
They are going to be selfish and look after themselves if the relationship is over and not each other
Hurt by missing out on a medal jealous of new partners
Angry/ bitter. They are no longer together. Medal may symbolise a moment they missed out on. Partner may symbolise lover
Last of all we’ll be like children having learnt the thinness of ice
Like children they have learned a behaved immaturely. Learnt that relationships are fragile and can break easily.
Break the ice between us
They are not angry and bitter. Ready start a friendship.
