He wants everyone to stop, doesn’t want to talk to anyone
‘Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffins, let the mourners come’
Wants silence. This person was so significant to him he feels that everyone should respect him
Let the aeroplanes, circle moaning overhead, Scribbling on the sky He Is Dead
The fact that planes are moaning shows that they are upset. He wants to show to everyone that he is dead
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves
Usually wear white, black shows respect for the dead and shows they’re mourning
‘He was my North, my South, my East and West’
He was his everything, he was his compass. He lost his way of life.
The stars are not wanted now: put out everyone; For nothing now can come to any good
He is still griefing he cannot admire natural beauty
