South: April-May 1795 people rose up against people who had benefited from the Revolution
Paris: Gangs of youths called the ‘jeunesse dorée’ would beat up Jacobins and sans-culottes
Vendée: The Chouans, groups of 50-100 men, attacked grain convoys and murdered government officials

When was the uprising of Prairial and what happened?

A

20th-21st May 1795
A large crowd of women, workers and National Guardsmen marched on the Convention to demand bread, leading to the death of a deputy in the chaos
Forces loyal to the Convention then gathered in front of the Convention to defend it, but the gunners btrayed the Convention and went to the rebels, but no one actually opened fire

What happened in the Vendée in June 1795?

A

3,000 émigrés troops joined the Chouans, meaning the rebels now numbered around 22,000. General Hoche surrounded the rebels and took 6,000 prisoners, and executing 640 rebels. Hoche was then given an army of 140,000 to crush any more rebellions in the Vendée
