The Sterile Environment Pt 5 Flashcards
Restricted access barrier systems are the machines that have ____ ports that physically separate the outside area from the inside compounding area
glove
If there are hard-to-reach corners, use ____ to clean where the mop will not reach
wipes
The PEC (except for the isolator) must be cleaned before each shift, before a batch, and no longer than ____ minutes following a previous cleaning when compounding is occurring
30
How should PECs be cleaned?
First you clean the walls in an up-and-down motion, working outward from back to front
Then clean the surface from back to front in long strokes. Start at the back corner and go across in parallel lines, working your way to the front while being careful to overlap and cover every area of the work surface
Wall, storage shelving, and ceilings should be cleaned and disinfected monthly with a germicidal detergent-soaked, lint-free wipe and then followed with 70% ____ alcohol (IPA)
isopropyl
What are the steps to cleaning a LAFW?
- Perform handwashing and garbing in the ante area before going into the buffer area
- Arrange the lint-free wipes in a stack within 6 inches of front of hood edge
- Pour alcohol on the stack, soaking through to the bottom one.
- Pull the first cloth off the stack and wipe the ceiling using side-to-side, overlapping strokes starting at the back and moving outward from back to front. Discard when done.
- Pull the second wipe and clean the pole and hooks, if applicable
- Pull the third wipe from the stack and clean a side. Start in the back top corner, using overlapping strokes from top to bottom and working outward (back to front)
- Repeat the same on the other side.
- Use rest of the stack of cloths to clean the work surface. Start at the back corner, working in overlapping strokes side to side, cleaning from back to front
