What is the anatomy of the spleen?
A
Wedge shaped lymphoid tissue, left hypochondrium, protected by ribs 9-11, diaphragmatic and visceral surfaces, covered in peritoneum except at hilum which forms gastrosplenic and splenorenal ligaments

How does splenomegaly present on CT?
A
Enlarged spleen, similar to liver size

What is the arterial supply of the spleen?
A
The coeliac axis at T11/12=common hepatic artery, left gastric artery and splenic artery

What 2 veins merge to form the superior mesenteric vein?
A
Portal vein and splenic vein
