The Single Maxillary Complete Denture Flashcards
How do cuspal inclines affect the soft tissue?
The steeper the inclinces, the more harsh it is on the tissues.
How flat do you want the occlusal table in order not to damage the soft tissue?
2-3 mm flat
You always want this type of occlusion with ANY denture/prosthesis.
Balanced
A single denture opposing natural dentition is seen in what age group?
Younger patients
Doing dental modifications to the opposint dentition is common in what kind of prosthesis?
A single denture that opposed a natural dentition.
Kelly’s/ Combination Syndrome
Max CD vs. Mandibular anterior dentition.
1) Maxillary anterior resorption.
2) Enlared maxillary tuberosities.
T/F:
In a patient with a single maxillary complete denture opposing natural dentition, you can build up the teeth with resin, make a matrix, and transfer it to the patient’s mouth. Can build it up with resin in order to get ideal balanced occlusion.
True
Can use this if the natural lower dentition’s occlusal table is uneven.
20 degree template.
It’s a metal horseshoe that tells you which teeth have high points that are making the occlusal plane uneven.
How do you transfer occlusal adjustments from the cast to the patient?
Make a matrix of the casts after you’ve made the modifications.
This clear suck down can be used in the patient.
Place PIP in the matrix, and place it on the patient.
See where the wax has stuck to the cast, and those are the areas where you make the mods.
We can establish good posterior occlusion with just these teeth.
Premolars.
You want teeth anterior to this line in order to have good stability.
Center of stability.
The width of the maxillary arch as a result of resorption.
Decreases
The width of the mandibular arch as a result of resorption.
Increases
How do you get shallow protrusive balance?
Have shallower cuspal inclines.
You want how many millimeters of anterior-posterior occlusal freedom?
2-3 mm
