Nicholas Copernicus

A

One of the first scientists to observe the sky. “In the Revolutions of the Heavenly Bodies.” Sun in the center. Saw that we can use math to observe the solar system.

Galileo

A

He invents the telescope in order to observe the sky. Agrees with Copernicus that the sun is in the center of the solar system. He is challenged by the church for his ideas, because they are suspicious of them.

A mathematician. He was very religious. He was the first modern physicist. -Invented calculus.

Started by doubting everything–ourselves are the only thing we can’t doubt. If we can understand it, it is real (heart of enlightenment thinking). Rationalism.
There is a difference between your mind and body, your mind is more important (MODERNISM).
