What is applied research?
Attempts to find practical solutions to problems.
What is basic research?
Explains the fundamental principles of how the world works.
What are conclusions?
Interpretation of numerical results. Determines if results support or undermine the hypothesis.
What is a dependent variable?
Variable that depends on the independent variable and is what the researcher measures.
What is an independent variable?
Variable predicted to have a causal effect. The variable that researchers control and manipulate.
What are variables?
Parts of the study that can have different values and be measured or categorized.
What is analysis?
Statistical analysis provides methods of describing and interpreting the measured data.
Statistical analysis can show whether the data support or undermine the hypothesis.
