Results: Drawing Conclusions from Data Flashcards
What is internal validity?
degree to which a causal relationship between the independent and dependent variables is demonstrated.
What is random assignment?
best way to minimize the effects of both known and unknown confounders. used to divide participants into different treatment groups. means that differences between the research subjects that are not being measured or manipulated by the researchers and thus could act as confounding variables are evened out across the groups.
What is temporality?
means that the cause comes before the effect.
What is external validity?
aka generalizability
the degree to which the results of a study can be generalized to other situations.
