What is the Definition of a Sacrament?
“efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us”
List the 7 Sacraments.
Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation (or Confession or Penance), the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony
Why are visible signs important for the human person and how does this relate to the Sacraments?
The human person operates through the 5 senses. Therefore through the 5 senses, we are able to understand the divine mysteries that the sacraments are communicating since they are visible signs.
How does Jesus Christ connect to the Sacraments?
Jesus Christ instituted all of the sacraments in His life. Also, Jesus is always the primary minister of every Sacrament.
What is the Sacrament of Baptism?
One is washed of Original Sin and is initiated into the Church. Baptism is a crucial sacrament because in scripture, Jesus emphasizes that one cannot enter the Kingdom of God if they are not baptized.
What is the Matter, Form, and Minister of Baptism?
Matter: Water
Form: “I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
Minister: Priest, Deacon, or anyone lay person in the case of an emergency.
Why should infants be baptized?
Parents have the duty to do what’s best for their Children such as nutrition, education, and medical care. Hence, parents care for the well-being of their child. Therefore, in the same sense, parents are called to nurture the well-being of their children’s soul through the sacrament of Baptism.
