2.What was particular about Charles II royal court?
It is known to have been the most immoral of English history
3.What happened in 1665?
The Plague hit London and killed over 100,000 people.
- What happened in 1666?
The Great Fire destroyed half London and St.Paul Cathedral.
5.Who thought all of these disaster were Charles II fault?
The puritans, that thought these disaster were God’s punishment for the immoral behaviour of the King.
- Who succeeded Charles II? And what was particular about him?
James the II succede Charles II and he had converted to catholicism in 1660.
-he tried to unite the catholicism with protestantism and this angered the Parliament
7.Why were the Protestant ,especially the nobles, worried about James son with his wife Mary of Modena?
Because they didn’t want to have a catholic succession.
8.What did they do about it?
A group of protestant nobles decided to appeal to William of Orange .that was the husband of Mary (one of the protestant daughters of James I) .
9.What is the Glorious Revolution?
In November William landed with an army in Devon while the king fled abroad.It was a peaceful change of power that is known as “Glorious Revolution”.
10.What happened in 1688?
-William and his wife Mary were crowned Joint Monarchs .
-Their reign was time of economic progress for England
11.What happened in 1689?
The Bill of Rights was declared and it stated that the king couldn’t raise taxes or keep an army without the consent of the Parliament.–) representing victory of Parliament or CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY
