1. Sensation detected at the sensory receptors
2. Electrical signal now rushes along the dendrite to the axon
3. Reaches the axon terminal and converts into a chemical signal
4. Crosses the synaptic cleft
5. Now detected by the relay neurone in the spine
6. Reflex responses pass immediately to the relay neurone
7. Information is then passed to the motor neurone
8. Signal will now reach the effector (e.g. a muscle) and cause them to move
