- Amos, Hosea, Jeremiah and Isaiah are prophets of the Old
Testament. - Hosea reminded the people of God’s love, goodness and
faithfulness. - Amos and Micah urged them to show kindness to the poor, to be
compassionate, honest and generous. - Isaiah proclaimed the coming of the Messiah (also known as the
Suffering Servant) and of his kingdom. - Jeremiah spoke of a covenant written on people’s hearts.
- All the messages of the Old Testament prophets were echoed,
reinforced and fulfilled in Jesus. - The prophets’ key themes were monotheism, Messianism and
morality
What the Prothetic Role of the Chruch
- Through the Church, the risen Jesus lives and is active in the world.
- Christians are called to be prophets, just as Jesus was a prophet.
10.Christians are called to speak out for justice for the poor,
compassion for the weak, repentance (changed lives) among those
who do wrong and faithfulness to God and to His commandments.
11.Being a prophet can be challenging because:
• It can be hard to speak out against injustice in the world
because the message might not be popular.
• Standing up for others can make you a target.
• Sometimes, people are not interested in what religion has to
say
