What is the inconsistent triad?
A group of three statements in which at most two of them can be true
What are the statements in the inconsistent tirad?
God is benevolent, god is omnipotent, evil exists
Types of evil
Natural evil and moral evil
What does natural evil mean?
Suffering caused by nature, nothing to do with human decisions. Eg. Tsunamis, diseases, floods…
What does moral evil mean?
Suffering caused by human’s decisions and actions. Examples: war, discrimination, violence, poor…
Who is the devil?
The devil is the fallen angel, the first to disobey God and the one who tempts humans into disobeying God.
How is the devil refered as?
Lucifer, Satan, Diablo
How do Christians view the devil?
Some Christinas believe that the devil is a real character who is the reason for the existence of evil and suffering, while others believe that the devil is a metaphor to the existence of suffering.
What is a theodicy?
To justify God, an attempt to explain how the existence of suffering is compatible with the existence of an all-loving all-powerful God.
Two philosophers which have a theodicy?
St Agustines and St Irenaeus.
What does st Augustine’s theodicy argue?
God created the world+God is perfectly good=The world is perfectly good
