What is the present progressive?
An emphasis on something that is happening right now.
What is the structure of a present progresive conjugation?
[conj. estar] + [modified verb/present participle]
“The girls are speaking with the hotel employee”
Las chicas están hablando con el empleado del hotel
“Are you studying at the beach?”
¿Estás esudiando en la playa?
“I am fishing”
Estoy pescando
“We are eating”
Estamos comiendo
present participle endings
ar = -ando (hablar = hablando)
er = -iendo (comer = comiendo)
ir = -iendo (escribir = escribiendo)
What do you do for -er/-ir verbs that end in a vowel?
add -yendo to it instead
oír = oyendo,
leer = leyendo,
traer = trayendo
ir = yendo
poder = pudiendo
venir = viniendo
e -> ei in present tense becomes what in the present participle?

ex. preferir -> prefiriendo
