- The idea of living in the wilds of Ireland didn’t really attract too many English Families. Of the 88 that were given land only 15 were from England and the rest were from the Pale
- As so few English planters were available, the planters were forced to hire the Gaelic Irish.

Yes because:
- Servitors were awarded land. They were soldiers who served for England in the 9 years war. They were tough experienced fighters who could not be taken from their land easily.
- The size of the estates awarded to the planters were limited to a maximum of 2000 acres.
