phosphorus is essential in the production of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), ATP and phospholipid.

A
the relationship between the root of the plant and the fungus, mycorrhiza is mutualistic. The fungus is able to convert the phosphorus in the soil into phosphates which the plants can use. animals can obtain these phosphates by eating the plants.

phosphate is released when substances containing it such as rocks are eroded by abiotic factors such as wind and water.
