The younger brother became annoyed that the father was so happy to see him, the father said to him they need to celebrate as ‘this brother of yours was dead and is alive again’

Jesus replied with parable: man was attacked by robbers and left half dead, a priest walked past and didn’t help, a Levite walked past and didn’t help (if they come into contact with blood they can’t go into the temple), Samaritan walked past and took him to an inn, bandaged his wounds
Jesus asked ‘which of these three do you think was a neighbour?’, the man replied ‘the one who had mercy on him’
