A

Somatic nerve of the lumbosacral trunk

  • Enters greater sciatic foramen
  • Passes above the piriformis muscle.

- L4-S1

Innervates

  • Piriformis
  • Branches in sacral plexus to gluteal muscles.

A

Somatic nerve of the lumbosacral trunk

  • Enters greater sciatic foramen
  • Inferior to the piriformis muscle

- L5-S2

Innervates
- Gluteus maximus

Pudendal nerve

A

Somatic nerve of the lumbosacral trunk

  • Enters greater sciatic foramen inferior to the piriformis muscle
  • Passes over the sacrospinous ligament and immediately through the lesser sciatic foramen

- S2-S4

Innervates

  • Peritenum region
  • Including: external urethral sphincter, external genitalia.
