Because Germany wasn’t paying the reparations, they claimed they couldn’t pay for another 3 years

Passive resistance, they were not to comply to the orders and to refuse demands of the soldiers
Why did they think passive resistance would work?
Because it worked in the Kapp putsch
What were the Germans not to do?
To not send post, telegraph, telephone calls, sell stamps
What did the railway workers do?
They didn’t run the trains
What were some of the consequences of this?
The French expelled 150,000 people when they refused to take orders
Shot dead 132 Germans
A seven year old boy was killed
How did this effect the government?
No money was going into the government as no one was working, or getting money from industries
What did this lead to?
Inflation because Germany began to print more money
What was the hyperinflation like?
It went up daily
What did people do instead of using money?
They starting bargaining with goods
