Responsible for impulses of equilibrium and hearing; also called ‘auditory nerve’
Glossopharyngeal ( IX )
Carries sensory impulses from pharynx (swallowing) and taste on one-third of tongue
Vagus ( X )
Supplies most organs in abdominal and thoracic
cavities
Accessory ( XI )
Controls the neck and shoulder muscles
Hypoglossal ( XII )
Controls tongue muscles
