manager has complete control. Employees must follow manager’s instructions. The harder the employee worked, the better the output and result
planning time lines for management
Strategic: long term planning (3-5 years)
Tactical: medium-long term planning (1-2 yrs). flexible and adaptible.
Operational: short-term planning (yearly, monthly, daily). day to day
hiearchial structure
is longer, many layers, employees find it harder to ask questions, lvl of authority is based on hierachy
autocratic structure
Strong centralised control, working team must follow orders, top down communication, external motivation
behavioural approach
Employees are number one, Humanistic approach, team based, democratic
contingency approach
stresses the need for flexibility and adaptation for managament to suit the changing circumstances.
