Who was the Nazi Party led by?
Adolf Hitler and General Ludendorff (a popular WW1 hero who was involved in Kapp Putsch).
How many members were in the Nazi Party?
55,000 members and their own private army called the SA.
Why did the rebellion start?
The Nazi’s believed that democracy only led to weak government. They thought that there should be only one Party with one leader.
What did they start with in Munich?
The Nazi’s planned to take over the government and set up Lundendorff as Germany’s leader. They started in Munich.
What did Hitler and 600 of his SA do?
Burst into a meeting where Kahr was speaking. They forced Kahr to support their plan.
Why was the putsch not properly planned?
Kahr was allowed to leave the beer hall and so he withdrew his support.
What did Kahr do to withdraw his support?
The German government ordered the army to stop the revolt. They met the Nazi’s in Munich.
What was the result of the army stopping the revolt?
Fourteen Nazis were killed. The putsch leaders were arrested. Hitler was sent to prison for 5 years but released after 9 months. During his sentence, the Nazis nearly fell apart without their leader.
