What is the menstrual cycle?
A
The monthly release of an egg from a womans ovaries and the build up/breakdown of the protective lining in the uterus.

Describe the four stages of the menstrual cycle.
A
1st stage: The lining of the uterus breaks down and bleeding starts.
2nd stage: The lining of the uterus builds up ready for a fertilised egg.
3rd stage: The egg is released.
4th stage: The lining of the uterus is maintained.

FSH hormone…
A
Follice-Stimulating hormone.
- It is produced by the pituary gland.
- It causes an egg to mature in one of the ovaries.
- It causes ovaries to produce oestrogen.

Oestrogen hormone…
A
- Is produced in the ovaries.
- Inhibits(prevents)FSH from being released any more.

Luteinising Hormone.
-It causes the release of an egg from the ovaries.
