Where is the picturing gland and what does it do?
It is found in the brain and once a month it releases a surge of hormones which starts eggs maturing in the ovaries.
What is FSH?
It is a hormone which is released by the pituitary gland, it starts eggs maturing in the ovaries and stimulates the production of oestrogen.

What does the contraceptive pill do?
It contains hormones which affects the ovaries it stops the production of FSH in the ovaries so you can’t therefore become pregnant.

The artificial hormone levels drop so your own body hormones take over meaning it could lead to an unexpected baby.
Why can’t some people have children and how does artificial FSH help?
