How is the population growth affecting pollution?
The population growth means vastly increased amounts of waste. The waste we produce presents us with some difficult problems if it is not handled properly it can cause serious pollution.
How is the population growth affecting land and resources?
The increase in the number of people means more and more land is being built for houses shops and industrial sites and roads. We use billions of acres of land around the world for farming to grow food another crops for human use and in quarrying we dig up great areas of land for re-sources
What are three fossil fuels?
Coal
Oil
Natural gas
What is the problem with fossil fuels?
It is a non-renewable resource so there is a limited amount of it on Earth and eventually it will be used up.
What are the main gases involved in the formation of acid rain?
Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide
What are the effects of acid rain?
Can cause damage to trees
it can fall into lakes rivers and streams and then the water becomes acidic therefore many lakes become no longer to be able to support life
What is global warming?
The climate of the earth getting warmer.
Name two greenhouse gasses
Carbon dioxide and methane.
What are the effects of combustion?
Carbon dioxide levels are rising.
What are the effects of deforestation?
Increases the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere.
Destroys habitats.
What is sustainable development?
Looking after the environment.
