Who is the Reeve?
You used to be a usual villein but now you have a special job thanks to the lady of the manor who chose it last year. This job would include making sure the villeins work properly on the Lords Land. They would provide the correct tools and make sure the villeins work at dawn.
Who is The Lord of the Manor?
They own all the land, you own all the houses in this land and most of the people. They are skilled horseman and a young knight who wins fencing competitions. You would make a good marriage and you have a good wealth.
Who is the priest?
You’re the son of the villein but when you were younger you would get trained to be a priest. By doing that you would learn you read and speak in Latin to have church services. The services would be held on Sundays for villagers and other holy days, baptise kids and bury the dead as your job.
Who is the Villein?
You don’t own your own land or home. You can’t leave the manor without permission. You farm strips given by The Lord but in return you would work for The Lord 2 or 3 days a week.
Who is the day labourer?
Youngest of the villein family. Mettle chance of getting married because her family can’t afford another dowry.
Who is the carpenter?
To make things out of wood for the people of the manor. For The Lord you make chests and stools by working for The Lord you get silver.
Who is the swine herd?
Looks after pigs and they’re a very important source of food in the winter. You and your family watch over them while they roam about the woods and waste ground searching for food.
Who is the the weaver?
You’re important and skilled. You make cloth for clothing and blankets but some women make their own but the weaver has higher quality. The Lord of the manor uses the weaver for his clothing and his families.
Who is the sheep farmer?
You drive sheep to pasture using dogs. They’re also freeman but have a small house with a small flock.
Who is the Brewster?
You make ale for the people of the manor who can afford it. The miller is your husband and most likely the Brewster would be a lady. When you get paid in slow time you bring this up at manor court.
Who is the Miller?
You turn village corn into flour. You own a barn, windmill and a house.
Who is the smith?
You mend the manor’s ploughs, shoe the lords horses and grind the scythes and shears. In return you get acres of land which your husband farms with relatives.
