The Lower Leg, Ankle, & Foot Muscles Flashcards
The anterior compartment muscles are?
Anterior tib, extensor digitorum longus, extensor hallicus longus, fibularis tertius
Origin of anterior tibialis
Upper 2/3 of the lateral surface of the tibia
Insertion of anterior tibialis
Inner surface of the medial cuneiform and the base of the 1st met
Origin of extensor digitorum longus
Lateral tibial condyle + head of fibula + upper 2/3 of the anterior surface of the fibula
Insertion of extensor digitorum longus
Tops of the middle and distal phalanxes of 2-5
Origin of extensor hallicus longus
Middle 2/3 of the medial surface of the anterior fibula
Insertion of hallicus longus
Base of the distal phalanx of the great toe
Origin of fibularis tertius
Distal 1/3 of the anterior fibula
Insertion of the fibularis tertius
Superior aspect of the base of the 5th met
The lateral compartment muscles are?
Fibularis longus & fibularis brevis
Origin of fibularis longus
Head and upper 2/3 of the lateral fibula
Insertion of fibularis longus
Undersurfaces of the medial cuneiform and 1st met
Origin of fibularis brevis
Mid to lower 2/3 of the lateral fibula
Insertion of fibularis brevis
Tuberosity of the 5th met
The superficial posterior compartment muscles are?
Gastrocnemius, soleus, & plantaris
Origin of the medial head of the gastroc
Posterior surface of the medial femoral condyle
Origin of the lateral head of the gastroc
Posterior surface of the lateral femoral condyle
Insertion of the gastroc
Posterior surface of the calcaneus via the achilles tendon
Origin of the soleus
Posterior surface of the proximal fibula and proximal 2/3 of posterior tibia
Insertion of soleus
Posterior surface of the calcaneus via the achilles tendon
Origin of plantaris
Inferior part of the lateral supracondylar ridge of the lateral femoral condyle -> just above lateral gastroc
The deep posterior compartment muscles are?
Posterior tibialis, popliteus, flexor hallicus longus, & flexor digitorum longus
