What are the erector spinae muscles?
iliocostalis, longissimus, spinalis
Origin of iliocostalis
medial iliac crest, thoracolumbar aponeurosis from sacrum, post. aspect of ribs 3-12
Insertion of iliocostalis
post. ribs 1-12, cervical transverse processes of 4-7
Origin of longissimus
medial iliac crest, thoracolumbar aponeurosis from sacrum, lumbar transverse process 1-5, thoracic transverse 1-5, cervical articular processes 5-7
Insertion of longissimus
cervical 2-6 spinous processes, thoracic transverse processes 1-12, bottom 9 ribs, mastoid process
Origin of spinalis
ligamentum nuchae, 7th cervical spinous process, 11-12 thoracic spinous process, 1-2 lumbar spinous process
Insertion of spinals
2nd cervical spinous process, 5-12 thoracic spinous processes, occipital bone
Origin of QL
post. inner lip of the iliac crest
Insertion of QL
1.5 the length of the lower border of the 12th rib and the transverse process of the upper 4 L-spine vertebrae
Origin of rectus abdominis
Crest of the pubis
Insertion of rectus abdominis
Cartilage of 5-6 ribs and xiphoid process
Origin of external obliques
borders of lower 8 ribs at the side of the chest
Insertion of external obliques
anterior half of the ilium crest, inguinal ligament, crest of pubis, and fascia of rectus abdominis at the lower front
Origin of internal obliques
upper 1/2 of inguinal ligament, anterior 2/3 of ilium crest and lumbar fascia
Insertion of internal obliques
costal cartilage 8-10 ribs and the linea alba
