Hip Muscles Flashcards
The anterior muscles of the hip are? (P.I.S)
Pectineus (lumped with these because it can also flex hip), Iliopsoas (major/minor/illacus) & sartorius
Origin of Pectineus
On the front of the pubis just above the crest
Insertion of Pectineus
Lesser trochanter down to Linea aspera
Origin of illiacus
Inner surface of the illium
Insertion of illiacus
Lesser trochanter of the femur + shaft just below
Origin of psoas major
Sides of T-12 -> L5 vertebrae + transverse processes of L1-5
Insertion of psoas major
Lesser trochanter of femur
Origin of psoas minor
sides of T-12 -> L-1 vertebrae
Insertion of psoas minor
Pectineal line via the iliopubic arch
Origin of sartorius
ASIS
Insertion of sartorius
Pes anserine (anterior medial aspect of the tibia)
The medial muscles of the hip are? (G.M.L.B.P.)
Gracilis, adductor magus, adductor longus, adductor brevis, & pectineus
Origin of gracilis
anteromedial edge of the descending ramus of pubis
Insertion of gracilis
Pes anserine (anterior medial surface of the tibia)
Origin of adductor magnus
edge of entire pubic ramus + ischium + ischial tuberosity
Insertion of adductor magnus
Whole length of linea aspera, medial condyloid ridge + adductor tubercule
