The living world Flashcards
Why are animals classified?
Animals are classified to stay organised
What are reactants?
the molecules/particles that react.
label flowering plant view page 38 of living world book.
different types of domains
the Archaea, the Bacteria, and the Eukarya.
use of fungi in medicine
e.g. penicillin
Why are some classification systems not very good?
Because they rely on the physical characteristics.
what are Prokaryotes?
one celled animals that don’t have a nucleus, reproduce asexually and can be pathogenic. They are in the domain Bacteria and Archaea.
what is autotroph and heterotroph
Autotrophs are known as producers because they are able to make their own food from raw materials and energy. Examples include plants, algae, and some types of bacteria. Heterotrophs are known as consumers because they consume producers or other consumers. Dogs, birds, fish, and humans are all examples of heterotrophs.
Advantage of scientific name over common name
scientific name is known all around the world
What are the two parts of a scientific name?
the genus and the species
What is cell wall of plant and fungi made out of?
plant: cellulose
Fungi: Shitin

What wavelengths do Chlorophyll reflect, absorb and description of chlorophyll
absorbs blue and red and reflects green. It is a green pigment found in all plants and algae that converts energy from sun to chemical energy.
Definition of structures view page 35 of the living world
difference between consumer and producer
the consumer eats and the producer makes.
