What does accountability mean for a lifeguard?
It means you are accountable for your actions. When something goes wrong the law will ask whether you as a lifeguard were effective or in affective. After a serious accident the first thing investigated is the actions of the lifeguard.
What does the health and safety at work act ensure for a lifeguard?
It ensures that the lifeguard takes reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others. That they notify the manager when something is a health and safety issue.
It also ensures the employer protects the health and safety of the employees and public. They give good instruction and training to employees. They carry out risk assessments in the workplace. They develop pool safety operating procedures.
What are the lifeguards responsibilities with site policy and procedures?
To follow and apply pool safety operating procedures
Cooperate with the employer on health and safety matters and attend on going training
Employees take care for themselves and anyone else who may be effected by their actions.

A sign that prohibits someone from doing something such as no access for unauthorised persons

A sight giving warning of a hazard or danger such as danger electrics

A sign prescribing behaviour such as eye protection must be warn

A sign that gives information on emergency exits first aid or rescue facilities
How do you prevent a misunderstanding during a disciplinary problem?
You be approachable and smile
Establish eye contact
Be courteous fair but firm
Give reasons for any guidance or instruction
Do not display anger or use inappropriate language
Never try to intimidate
Remain calm
How should a lifeguard be perceived by the public?
They safeguard lives, give peace of mind and advice
What does COSHH relate to?
Chemicals that will be found in the work place and the safety of them
What do ppe regulations relate to?
Protective equipment that is needed to be supplied at work where there are health and safety risks that can’t be controlled in other ways.
