North and South Korea, across the 38th parallel.
How did Stalin think the Korean war would benefit the Soviet Union?
He calculated that if the North could bring the South under communist control then the whole of Korea would be communist and benefit the USSR considerably.
Why did Mao become involved in the war?
He thought that Stain would give China soviet technology and equipment in exchange for Chinese soldiers.

That when the North Koreans crossed the 38th parallel, they were at fault, however the PRC claimed that South Korea had committed the initial transgression.

Mao proudly stated it was CCP, not Soviet comrades who had shed their blood.
Most importantly, the CCP could claim that it had matched the USA in combat for 3 years and remained undefeated.
How did the war impact the PRC nation?
It was obliged to prove itself in war yet again before it had even been given time to establish itself in times of peace.
