What are all the names given in the healing process?
Acute, Early and late sub acute, Chronic.
How must a RMT go about treating tissue that has been injured?
Relying on palpation and Observation skills NOT the time that has elapsed since the Injury has occurred.
What is Inflammation?
This is the immediate and local response to an injury and or tissue damage.
When do chronic Inflammations most occur?
This is if an injury has healed but an Irritant remains.
When do chronic Inflammations most occur?
This is if an injury has healed but an Irritant remains.
What are the types of healing?
Primary or first intention, Secondary or second intention.
What is primary healing?
This is when there is little scar tissue and the wound is held together with tape, staples, or sutures.
What is secondary healing?
This is when there is large amounts of scar tissue, and granulation tissue.
What should be done if the RMT notices the client is not healing as fast as they should be?
They should be referred to the Proper practitioner or a Physician.
What is the Time Frame of the Acute stage of the Healing Process?
This is a short stage staring at the moment of injury.
It last up to 3-4 days, This is the start of the healing process.
What are Treatment Considerations of the Acute stage?
Treatment Goals for the acute stage:
Limit the Inflammatory process, Reduce pain and swelling, Reduce Sympathetic nervous system Firing and prevent re-injury.
Positioning for the Acute stage:
comfortable and not stressing the injury site, and if unsure about positioning ask the client what his/her sleeping position is.
What is the First aid Acronym used for an acute injury?
RICE - rest, ice, compress, Elevate.
