What is the difference between the Preterite and imperfect tense?

A

The Preterite refers to past completed actions that happened at a specific moment in time, which the imperfect refers to past actions that occurred over an undefined period of time

When to use the imperfect tense?

A
  • Ongoing past actions (I was walking to school)
  • ‘Used to do ‘ Phrases (I used to play guitar-> I played guitar)
