Role - is ensuring that South Africans workforce is SKILLED and contributes to the PRODUCTIVITY and ECONOMIC GROWTH of the country!
Aim - enables more South Africans to gain access to skills, training opportunities that have long term benefits for population and society!

Explain the PURPOSE of the Skills Development Act ?
- Develops the skills of South Africans in order to improve PRODUCTIVITY in the workplace.
- Encourages businesses to improve the skills of NEW and EXISTING workers.
- INVESTS in the EDUCATION and TRAINING
of the South African workforce.

Negatives
- Implementation of SDA is time-consuming, expensive, prescriptive and administratively burdensome.
-Bussinesses find it difficult to monitor/control the implantation of this Act

-Preventing qualified employees from gaining access to the train ging opportunities (e.g) Trained teacher to advance their education.
-Promoting skills development unfairly (e.g) where only certain employees benefit
-Providing incorrect and irrelevant information to employees about a learnerships to deliberately mislead employees.

What are the penalties/consequences for non compliance with SDA ?
- Businesses would do not comply with SDA will get a compliance order. The order forces businesses to comply with SDA.
- Businesses that do not pay SDL may not offer leaner ships to employees or claim grants from SDA.
-If a business is found of guilty of illegal practices, a labor inspector may indefinitely stop the operations of the bussiness.

Describe ways in which businesses can comply with the SDA ? :
- Display a summary of the SDA in the bussiness where it is visible to all employees
- Provide all opportunities to all employees to improve their skills
- Employees who collect PAYE should register with SETA.
- Employers should submit a workplace skills plan and provide evidence that is was implemented.

Outline the roles and functions of SETA ?
SETA = is a vocational skills training organization in SA that identifies/outlines/manages and creates leanerships, internships and apprenticeship in the various bussiness sectors
- Is to register various learners sips and training pragrammes
- Promote and establish various learnerships
- Develop skills plans that are in this with the aims the National skills Development Strategy (NSDS)
- Develop skills development plans for the various economic sectors

What are some ways of funding for SETA ? :
- From surplus funds from government institutions
- Funds received from rendering their services
- Donations/Grants received from the public/bussiness/ CSI programmes

- NSD aims to develop skills, improve education, support and provide training to the South African workforce, improve economic growth , alleviate property and reduce unemployment

- Decrease profitability of the bussiness due to decline productivity and sales.
- Implementation of LRA may be expensive and time consuming, in the dispute resolution process.
