What is the main difference between majority and minority leaders in the House?
Minority leaders have no power over scheduling work in the House
What is a bill?
A law that has not been passed by both houses of congress and signed by the president.
What are calendars?
They list bills that are approved by a committee and up for consideration.
What is the Rules Committee?
It helps direct the flow of major legislation. It is the most powerful committee. After a committee has approved a major bill, they can move it ahead quickly, hold it back, or stop it completely.
What is a quorum?
The minimum number of members who must be present to permit a legislative body to take official action.
