Q
What is the relationship between the Word of God and Scripture?
A
- Scripture is the written aspect of the Word of God
- Jesus is called the “Word” (John 1)
- Word of God also refers to his will and command (Isaiah 55:10-11) As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
- Ephesians 6:17 - “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God”

Q
What does Scripture teach about non-canonical revelation?
A
- Look at the whole revelation of scripture - it is consistent
- God has revealed himself through nature (Rom 1:19-20) - since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
- Rev 22:18 - If anyone adds to anything
- Gal 1:8 - Even if angels preach another gospel
- 1 Cor 14:26 - What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
