Q

What does the concept of the “imminent return of Christ” mean to you and what scriptural foundation do you have for your understanding?

A
  • Matthew 24 - Gives various signs to be aware of BEFORE the end will come, seems to indicate in 44 that to be ready is similar to who knew that a thief was coming
    • Story of the wise vs foolish servants - main point is being faithful and do what you are called to do until the Lord comes
  • Bruce - “watch and be ready” - Luke 12

Q

What are the major differences between the doctrines ofpremillenialism, postmillenialism, and amillenialism?

Which view do you hold and why?

A

Premillenialism - Christ will come again and usher in a 1,000 reign on Earth, during which Satan will be “held in chains”. Satan will be released at the end to wage war one last time, when Christ will conquer him and his followers.

Postmillenialism - The “millennium” is already happening, with the Church extending the kingdom of God and its benefits, so that the whole Earth becomes better and better until Christ physically comes again.

Amillenialism - There is no millennium. They take the “millennium” as symbolic in the sense that Christ is reigning from heaven and will come again.

- Premillenialism (Rev 20, )
	- Posttribulationalist
- Zech 14:16 - Nations go up to worship
- Rev 21:24 - Nations will bring their glory or tribute into Jerusalem

Q

What are the essential points of Paul’s preaching on resurrection in 1 Cor 15?

A
  • If Christ didn’t rise from the dead, then all of this is pointless
  • 15:20 - His resurrection was the first fruit - includes us in the “second fruit”
  • Resurrection body will be a spiritual body, immortal, in glory, in power
  • We will bear the “image” of the risen Christ
