Q

What did J J Thomson prove about the atom?

A

He proved that atoms weren’t solid spheres as he found out that it contained electrons, this theory changed the atom to the plum puddings.

Q

What did Ernest Rutherford and Hans Geiger and Ernest marsden find out about the atom?

A

They used a gold foil and found out that some particles where deflected back towards them, they concluded that this is due to the positive nucleus. They said that the atom was a cloud of negative electrons with a positive nucleus

Q

What did the Bohr model change about the atom?

A

They realised that the electrons must be held in place by something otherwise the atom would collapse .
They proposed that the atom has shells containing the electrons. Also each shell has fixed energy

Q

What scientific theories back up this by evidence?

A

More experiments were performed and things where slowly edited over time to get the atom we know today.
Also scientists research into these things and everyone gets to see things to see if anyone has any ideas.
