Pain with AROM and stretching with compressing bursa

Point tender
Generalized pain with many motions due to the number of attachments
Presents with ecchymosis
S&S of Piriformis Syndrome
May have antalgic gait
Stand in ER to slacken glut. med.
AROM SLR and hip ER may cause pain
Weakness in hip ER
Palpable tenderness/trigger point
S&S of Muscle Strains
Ecchymosis, swelling, deformity
Limited ROM
- Pain with contraction and stretching
Tenderness to palpation, possible defect
S&S of Labral Tears of the Hip
Anterior hip pain
Clicking/catching sensation
Tenderness on IR and flexion

Chronic groin pain that worsens with cutting and sprinting
Tenderness at superficial inguinal ring

Test cluster 1
- Hip pain + Hip IR < 15º + Flex < 115º = 86%specificity
Test cluster 2
- If hip IR > 15º –> painful hip IR _ >50 years old + AM stiffness <60 minutes
