The heart Flashcards
1
Q
1) Right atrium
A
Receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the Vena Cava
2
Q
2) Right ventricle
A
Deoxygenated blood moves through the right ventricle whih pumps it to the lungs via the pulmonary artery
3
Q
3) Left atrium
A
Recieves oxygenated blood from the lungs through the pulmonary vein
4
Q
4) Left ventricle
A
Oxygenated blood moves through to the left ventricle which pumps it out round the whole body via the aorta
5
Q
Left ventricle
VS Right ventricle
A
Left ventricle has a much thicker wall
Needs more muscle as it has to pump blood around the whole body whereas the right ventricle only has to pump it to the lung
Blood in left ventricle is at a much higher pressure
6
Q
Valves
A
Prevent the backflow of blood
