The heart Flashcards
structure snd function
Right Pulmonary Arteries
Carries blood from the pulmonary trunk to the right lung for reoxygenation.
Superior Vena Cava
(Right side) (Top right side tube)
Carries deoxygenated blood from the upper body to the right atrium in the heart.
Right Ventricle
(Right side) (Bottom right side)
Receives deoxygenated blood from the atrium and then pumps it up to the pulmonary trunk to be sent to the lungs.
Inferior Vena Cava
(Right side) (Bottom right side tube)
Carries deoxygenated blood from the lower body and abdomen to the right atrium in the heart.
Left pulmonary Arteries
(Top Left side)
Carries deoxygenated blood from the pulmonary trunk to the left lung for reoxygenation.
Left Atrium
(Left side)
Collects deoxygenated blood from left and right pulmonary veins and pumps the blood to the left ventricle through the left AV/Bicuspid.
Left Atrioventricular/ Bicuspid Valve
(Left side) (Heart strings)
Prevents oxygenated blood from left and right pulmonary veins and pumps it into the left ventricle via
Aorta
(Big vessel in the middle at the top)
Largest vessel of the body and it carries the oxygenated blood from the left ventricle to other parts of the body.
Septum
(Lower part)
Muscular wall that divides the right and left sides of the heart.
