The heart Flashcards
Name the 4 chambers
Atria, Ventricles left and right
4 main blood vessels
Pulmonary vein ( from lungs to left atrium)
Aorta( left ventricle to the body)
Vena cava ( from body to right ventricle)
Pulmonary artery( right atrium to lungs)
What valves are there
atrioventricular valves - separate atria from ventricles
Semi lunar valves- (separate ventricles from pulmonary artery/ aorta)
what prevents the av valves turning inside out due to pressure
the Tendinous chords
What is muscle and connective tissue that prevents oxygenated and deoxygenated blood from mixing
Septum
What is wrapped around the heart to supply blood to the cardiac muscle?
Coronary arteries
What side is the cardiac muscle thicker on and why
Left because higher blood pressure is needed to pump blood further
