Why is the the gastrointestinal system important?
A
- Without adequate nutrition, the body cannot function.
- Without food, you die. The G.I. tract allows food to be broken down into molecules small enough to enter the cells of the body.
- The different parts of the G.I. tract are specialised for different roles in either mechanical or chemical digestion.
